Position 00605897:  – Requisition 28601:

Job Summary:

The physics section of the Department of Radiation Oncology provides clinical physics support at the University of Colorado Hospital and 3 UCHealth Radiation Oncology Clinics in the Metro Denver area.  The physics division is responsible for 7 linear accelerators across, Gamma Knife unit, HDR unit, 4 CT simulators, and a PET/CT simulator.  The department has a fully integrated Eclipse treatment planning system, ARIA, and EPIC and use electronic charting system for all clinics.  Duties will include general clinical coverage and QA as well as support for special procedures, including VMAT/IMRT, IGRT, SRS/SBRT, HDR/LDR, TBI/TSI and SGRT.  The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in medical physics, physics, engineering or related field and either be ABR-certified or ABR-eligible with a minimum of 2-year clinical experience. Salary and the faculty appointment rank are commensurate with the individual’s experience and qualifications.  This position requires a well?trained individual who has excellent interpersonal skills, strong motivation to provide excellent clinical physics support, solid commitment to participate in teaching activities, and strong interest to work on research and development projects in a dynamic and collegial environment.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:

  • Masters level degree in medical physics, physics, engineering, or related field.
  • Board eligibility in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics. 

Sr. Instructor:

  • Masters level degree in medical physics, physics, engineering, or related field.
  • Board certification in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics

Assistant Professor:

  • DMP or a PhD in medical physics, physics, engineering, or a similar field
  • Board eligibility in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics

Associate Professor:

  • DMP or a PhD in medical physics, physics, engineering, or a similar field
  • Board certification in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics

Preferred Qualifications:

Instructor

  • Board Certification in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics
  • 2 years’ experience in clinical radiotherapy physics

Senior Instructor

  • 5 years’ experience in clinical radiotherapy physics

Assistant Professor

  • Board Certification in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics
  • 2 years’ experience in clinical radiotherapy physics

Associate Professor

  • 5 years' experience in clinical radiotherapy physics

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Clinical radiotherapy physics experience including external beam RT, brachytherapy, SRS/SRT, and special treatment procedures.  Experience in the areas of IMRT, IGRT, treatment planning, and functional imaging is essential.  Good analytical and computer skills are required. Ability to work independently and to function as an excellent team player.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

    Instructor - $100,000 to $180,000

    Senior Instructor – $120,000 to $200,000

    Assistant Professor - $130,000 to $225,000

    Associate Professor - $170,000 to $270,000

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
