Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical, 15% Adult Basic Education, 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Working under the general direction of the Benefits Manager, this position serves as a professional expert in the area of employee benefits particularly when it comes to full-time and part-time faculty, accurately interpreting appropriate rules, laws, and policies and providing assistance to employees regarding Public Employees Benefit Board (PEBB) insurance plans and Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) and higher education (HERP) retirement plans.

 

Position Responsibilities

 

  • Notify all newly hired eligible full-time and part-time faculty of insurance and retirement eligibility. Monitor enrollment forms are received and entered accurately in the college's ctcLink (HCM) system, as well as the Public Employees' Benefits Board PAYl system. Accurately determine correct retirement plan and make entries in a timely manner in the college's ctcLink (HCM) system.
  • Accurately and timely, terminate coverage for existing faculty whom no longer eligible for PEBB insurance coverage in the Public Employees' Benefits Board PAYl system and the college's CTC-Link (HCM) system. Send appropriate termination of coverage notices in a timely manner.
  • Assist faculty, as needed, with regard to plan options, premiums, enrollment, changes;
  • Collaborate with other community college benefit personnel in the successful transfer of employee benefits;
  • Accurately complete necessary payroll adjustment forms within each pay period;
  • Work collaboratively with the Payroll Office to resolve any benefit-related issues;
  • Approve and process FMLA and Shared Leave requests for faculty; provide notices of eligibility to employees and supervisors, track leave hours;
  • Responsible for accurately updating ACA information in the college's ctcLink (HCM) system;
  • Responsible for completing Special Unpaid Leave Reporting;
  • Provide similar enrollment, termination, payroll adjustment, FMLA and Shared Leave processing for other employee groups on an as-needed basis;
  • Assist in the annual Open Enrollment period as needed;
  • Prepare necessary correspondence and reports;
  • Accurately maintain confidential benefit files;
  • Perform other benefit-related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with focus on business, human resources, organizational behavioral sciences or related field and three years of professional experience working with benefit and retirement programs OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding benefit processes, documents, and employee data and information.
  • Ability to maintain ethics, integrity, and use sound professional judgement in daily job responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform high level detail-oriented tasks;
  • Intermediate/Advanced experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); familiarity with personal computers and software
  • Customer Service experience - ability to use professional verbal and written communication skills in emails, phone and interpersonal interactions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity by fostering a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of successful benefit or payroll experience in the WA state community college system;
  • At least six months of hands-on ctcLink (HCM) experience in Benefits or Payroll in the Washington State community college system.

Working Conditions:

  • Must have the ability to sit for prolonged period of time at a desk/computer workstation
  • Frequent repetitive arm, hand, and finger motions
  • Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screen in performing work assignments
  • Work in an office setting with frequent interruptions
  • Must be able to maintain "regular and predictable attendance"
  • May need to carry, lift or move equipment/supplies up to 15 lbs.
  • Work schedule: 40-hour workweek; remote work available on an intermittent basis.
  • Term of Position: 12 months/per year
