Department
Counseling Center

Job Purpose:
The Counselor provides counseling services, assessment, crisis intervention and consultation for the student population as well as collaborating within the Division of Student Life and the University.

Essential Duties:
- Provides individual and group counseling- Designs and leads structured and unstructured groups to include therapeutic, support, and psychoeducational groups
- Provides crisis intervention both during and after-hours
- Provides psychological testing within the scope of their practice (e.g. MMPI-II, CAARS)
- Collaborates with other university staff and faculty for the purpose of designing, co-facilitating and/or executing programming for the benefit of student’s wellness/psychoeducation



Additional Skills Required:
- In-depth knowledge of counseling theories and developmental issues in young/emerging adulthood, as they relate to challenges facing today’s college students
- Must be able to support the University’s commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture
- Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission



Minimum Education Requirements:
- Master’s degree in counseling/clinical mental health or related field- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)- Licensed in Pennsylvania

Preferred Education:


Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of three years counseling experience in the mental health and related care fields with late adolescent and young adult populations- Prior experience in college counseling center setting and/or outpatient/inpatient psychological/psychiatric treatment settings- Prior training and experience counseling students from diverse backgrounds- Experience in crisis management- Experience in designing and running group therapy- Experience in wellness programming

Schedule/Work Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Additional hours as required.

Full Time/Part Time:
Full-Time
