GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide instruction to students in Introduction to Psychology (PSY101) during the Spring 2023 semester (January 23 - May 16, 2023) on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:45 a.m. - 11 a.m. Course includes introduction to the major concepts and principles underlying human behavior and mental processes. Topics include personality theory, development, learning and thought, brain and nervous system, sensation and perception, motivation and emotion, abnormal and therapy, and social psychology. This course can be taught either on location at Martha's Vineyard Regional High School or remotely over Zoom.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
  • Select and develop appropriate materials for each class use.
  • Track and assess student progress.
  • Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.

Job Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Master's degree in Psychology or closely related field with appropriate areas of concentration.
  • College level teaching experience in Psychology, preferably at the community college level.
  • Effective pedagogical, teaching, and presentation skills.
  • Experience using evidence-based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
  • Ability to create classroom environment that engages students and supports learning.
  • Skill in using technology to support the teaching and learning process.
  • Experience incorporating principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in curriculum materials.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School teaching experience.
  • Professional development in teaching at the community college level.
  • Experience using Moodle or other Learning Management Systems.

COMPENSATION
: Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE pay scale. Part-time, non-benefited, MCCC Unit Position.
