The University of Maryland School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry is actively recruiting a researcher with a focus on investigating the source of inhibition deficits in schizophrenia using paired-pulse TMS, and auditory hallucination circuitry.  This is an opportunity to develop an interdisciplinary research program to investigate the underlying mechanisms of cognitive impairments in schizophrenia and related disorders.  The candidate will have the opportunities to participate in the larger UMSOM research and training programs including working with collaborators on several other grant applications.  In addition to working within a highly collaborative research environment, the successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the educational and service missions of the Department of Psychiatry and UMSOM.

Ideal candidates will have an established research record related to the application of cognitive neuroscience methods to the study of schizophrenia and the mechanisms implicated in psychosis reflected by a strong publication profile and potential for extramural funding.  Applicants must have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD, and at least 3 years of postdoctoral training.  Expected rank is Assistant Professor.  Candidates from underrepresented groups and diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
