Summary

Providing opportunities for all engineering students to gain academic or co-curricular experience outside the United States is an important part of our educational mission. The International Programs in Engineering Office (IPE) has been recognized as a leader in sending engineers abroad. The International Programs Advisor/Coordinator has primary responsibility for student advising, admissions, travel coordination, and program promotion. Your role contributes in forging and maintaining global partnerships with the programs in your portfolio. You will share IPE's commitment to providing inclusive and accessible services and programming to all College of Engineering (CoE) students regardless of background. You will report to the International Programs Assistant Director.

Responsibilities*

  • Provide overall program coordination for a set number of education abroad opportunities
  • Advise students on program and curricular requirements, application process, health and safety, cross-cultural communication, travel planning, and personal support measures
  • Hold advising hours and respond to inquiries from students by email, phone or by appointment
  • Contribute to overall IPE marketing, outreach and enrollment goals
  • Maintain detailed print and electronic information on programs, international partners, and student records
  • Administer student assessment, gather feedback, and provide suggestions for continued program development and improvement
  • Represent IPE through presentations, workshops, and events
  • Maintain positive, frequent, and meaningful engagement with partners to support international experiences for students

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of demonstrated experience in education abroad, higher education, college student advising or an equivalent combination of work and education experience
  • Experience living abroad, studying abroad or knowledge of language(s) other than English
  • Experience presenting information to others
  • Project management experience with the capability to maintain several projects simultaneously
  • Experience working collaboratively as part of a team in an enthusiastic student-centered environment
  • Computing and technology skills which include working with and learning new software and web-based application systems
  • Willingness to participate in occasional travel and irregular hours (some evenings and weekends)

Work Locations
