Assistant Scientist

Job Description:

Data management related to research projects: Assist with workflow of incoming data requests and other processes around the management, transform, analysis, etc. of data. Recommend and assist with development of workflow and process changes to enhance efficiency of tracking and delivery. Participate and contribute to communication of requests and results delivery. Assist with management of data governance around data sets.

Quantitative analysis and design: Lead the design, implementation, and reporting of research and evaluation studies based on real-world data in the OneFlorida+ clinical research network. Contributions to scientific reports, conference papers and journal articles are expected, including documentation of method, presentation of data, and participation in interpretation of results.

Natural language processing (NLP) tool development: Develop and use NLP approaches to process clinical notes. Develop algorithms to pre-process the clinical data for development of machine learning pipelines. Development NLP pipelines, and development and fine tuning of negation and new entity recognition algorithms.

Writing reports of analyses: Using software tools for business intelligence and analytics (e.g. SAP product stack), word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and organizational analyses (e.g. Microsoft Office products), provides reports of analyses to decision makers.


Expected Salary:

$85,000 to $95,000

Minimum Requirements:

A PhD in one of the following areas: computer science, biomedical informatics, statistics, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

A PhD in one of the following areas: computer science, biomedical informatics, statistics, or a related discipline, with at least one-year of postdoctoral research experience. Must demonstrate experience in real-world data analytics (e.g., electronic health records and claims data in the OneFlorida+ network) and natural language processing.
