Classification Title: Postdoctoral Associate
Job Description:

The Schachner Lab is seeking to recruit one highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in studying the evolution, anatomy, and biology of the avian respiratory system for a 3-year position. Possible projects include 3D modeling of bronchial tree anatomy and pneumatizing tissues or evaluation of function in non-ventilatory diverticula. The position will include opportunities to mentor undergraduate, graduate, and veterinary students, as well as develop educational outreach initiatives. The successful applicant will have access to Avizo and VGStudio workstations in the Schachner Lab, multiple microCT scanners through UF’s Research Service Centers, the Florida Museum of Natural History, and the animal facilities through the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Expected Salary:

$55,000 

Minimum Requirements:
  • PhD in biology, bioengineering or a related field
  • Experience with R
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with segmentation of microCT data (e.g., Avizo, Dragonfly, or VGStudio)
  • Proficiency with R
  • Some background in anatomy and dissection
