Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies; enforcing all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations; inspecting the facility on a daily basis and reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor; completing records and reports; participating in regular in-service training sessions; and maintaining fitness levels (swimming skills, strength and endurance). Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
Preferred candidate to possess current certification in the following: American Red Cross Lifeguarding; First Aid; American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Limited lifeguard trainings will be made available through Rolfs Aquatic Center at Notre Dame, City of South Bend and Mishawaka Parks, The Kroc Center and local schools. These will require a registration fee.
Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques is a necessity. Must possess leadership, public relations and decision making skills as well as an understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures.
