ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Austin E. Cofrin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay seeks applicants for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Economics. The Cofrin School of Business values university-level teaching experience, the ability to teach a variety of classes related to the candidate's academic field and preparation, engagement in institutional, community, and professional service, and experience working in the world of business.

The successful applicant will contribute to the Department of Accounting & Finance and an endowed school of business experiencing sustained enrollment growth. The economics faculty and the BS and minor in Economics joined the Cofrin School of Business in fall 2021, providing new and significant opportunities for program innovation and professional collaborations. Over the past year the Department opened the Charles Schwab Foundation Center for Personal Financial Planning and the Willie D. Davis Finance and Investment Laboratory to improve community engagement and expand experiential learning opportunities for students. The Austin E. Cofrin School of Business has added approximately 900 students over the past 9 years, contributing significantly to UW-Green Bay’s growth. The college and departmental connections to the region and its business community are extensive.

This position will be responsible for enhancing UW-Green Bay’s mission-driven inclusive teaching and educational environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates those with diverse identities, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in economics or related disciplines. Courses will be taught both in-person and online and may be taught in any of several other instructional modalities (e.g., blended, interactive video) to meet learner needs.
  • Perform scholarly activities, service, and professional engagement activities consistent with the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business expectations for an Assistant Teaching Professor.
  • Advise and mentor students to increase professional development, career advancement, and engagement in experiential learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom.
  • Implement inclusive instructional strategies to increase support for students from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds at UW-Green Bay.
  • Perform institutional and community service.
  • Contribute to ongoing program development within the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business.

QUALIFICATIONS:


 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, or related discipline, at time of application
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
  • Evidence of engagement in institutional, community, or professional service endeavors.

The home campus of this position is Green Bay and the successful candidate may be required to teach an occasional course at the Marinette, Sheboygan, or Manitowoc Campus.

Position is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track, Instructional Academic Staff appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). SALARY INFORMATION

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
