Instructor - Pre-Apprentice Lineworker Academy & Commercial Driver License Programs

Job Description

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering of training and instruction for the Pre-Apprentice Lineworker (PLA) and Commercial Driver License (CDL) programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plan and coordinate the PLA program and provide instruction as needed.
Plan and coordinate the CDL program and provide instruction as needed
Participate in recruitment efforts at area and regional schools as directed and outlined in the college recruitment plan.
Provide oversight for the maintenance of the PLA pole yard and equipment.
Provide oversight for the maintenance of trucks for the CDL program.
Serve as the college liaison for PLA and CDL with industry partners.
Maintain any program certifications, accreditations, or licensures needed for PLA and CDL programs.
Assist WCE staff with maintaining student records and required reporting
Assist in selection/evaluation of temporary or part-time instructors/assistants in the PLA and CDL programs.
Responsible for supervision of temporary or part-time instructors/assistants in the PLA and CDL programs.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Support all WCE activities
Serve on college committees

Education, Training and Experience Required

TVPPA climbing certification
Class B CDL license with preference for a Class A or Class A57 CDL license
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Journeyman Lineman
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a CDL truck driver

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND WORK CHARACTERISTICS:
Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
Ability to establish, coordinate and implement independent management decisions.
Ability to effectively use information technology including Microsoft Office and related applications.
Ability to relate to diverse faculty, staff, students and the public.
Ability to balance workload with multiple tasks.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
Ability to analyze, evaluate and take appropriate action.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Normal work week of 37.5 hours – 7:45 am – 4:15 pm Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend hours as required.

2. Visual and hand usage for personal computers.

3. Working outdoors in various weather conditions.

4. Ability to physically assist PLA students with gear and training.

5. Driving CDL trucks as needed.

Hiring Salary Range: $46,310 - $57,890
