Description
Postdoctoral fellow, research assistant or laboratory manager position available in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine. The laboratory is located in the Biddeford campus and investigates mechanisms underlying aberrant metabolic processes in mTOR-driven tumors, with attention to therapeutic and diagnostic applications. Projects in basic science and translational research are available.

Postdoctoral Fellow: The successful candidate will have recently completed graduate studies in a PhD or MD/PhD program with a strong background in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology.
  • The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time appropriately. The candidate will work both independently and as part of a team and should be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple activities, while conducting individual research and disseminating results.
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with faculty, research assistants / associates, administrative assistants, students, and other personnel.

Research Assistant: The research assistant will assist with experiments that will include cell culture, immunoblotting, DNA and RNA analyses, metabolic assays, and animal studies including inoculation of cells and small animal imaging. In addition, the successful candidate would have:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Familiarity with microscopy.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory protocols.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Self-directed learning and ability to work independently.

Laboratory Manager: Assist with experiments that will include cell culture, immunoblotting, DNA and RNA analyses, metabolic assays, and animal studies including inoculation of cells and small animal imaging. In addition, the lab manager will:
  • Oversee organizational and regulatory aspects of research program.
  • Inventory and order lab of supplies.
  • Oversee proper training of all laboratory personnel in experimental procedures.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team and should be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple activities, while conducting individual research and disseminating results.
  • Ensure that the laboratory and all personnel are compliant with safety, risk management, including filing of appropriate paperwork and safety certificates for each person working in the laboratory.
Qualifications
Postdoctoral Fellow:
Motivated candidates will have a PhD in biomedical sciences and those with significant experience in molecular biology and cell signaling are encouraged to apply. Technical skills in molecular biology, cell culturing techniques, protein expression, and murine models of cancer are important.
Research Assistant:
BA or BS in a scientific field. Some prior laboratory experience preferred. Dedication, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a highly collaborative and interactive environment.
Laboratory Manager:
PhD in biomedical sciences with significant experience in molecular biology and cell signaling are encouraged to apply.
