Introduction

Dynamic and vibrant, Durham University Business School is one of Durham University's four Faculties and is comprised of four research-intensive departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Management and Marketing. Known for its global reputation, its impact on policy and practice and its strong focus on ethics, responsibility and sustainability, the School aims to be a leading European business school with a strong global presence by 2027. The School currently has circa 200 academic and teaching staff, with plans and resource commitments to grow to 230 by 2027. The Department of Accounting

The Department seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Assistant Professor in Accounting (Research and Education). We welcome applications from those with research and education interests in the broad field of accounting and are particularly eager to hear from applicants who can demonstrate an interest in our three strategic themes of digitalisation, sustainability and public accountability.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of internationally excellent research and teaching whilst providing opportunities to progress and embed their career in an exciting and progressive institution.

The Department has close links to two research centres. These are the Ethical Finance Accountability and Governance (EFAG) centre, which focuses on sustainability and sustainable development goals, and the International Centre of Public Accountability (ICOPA), which focuses upon public accountability. In addition, the Durham Rutgers Accounting Analytics Network (DRAAN), which focuses on data analytics and artificial intelligence, is located within the Department.

About the role

Applicants to the role of Assistant Professor in Accounting (Research and Education) must demonstrate research excellence in accounting and the ability to teach DUBS students to an exceptional standard. Applicants will also be expected to engage fully in the services, citizenship and values of the University and to demonstrate the University's key principles of dignity and respect as part of the assessment process.
