ROLE of the POSITION

The Computer Science Department within the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering at UNLV invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, Postdoctoral Scholar of Computer Science/Astrophysics commencing July 1, 2023. The position is renewable for up to two additional years (3 years total), pursuant to availability of funds. This postdoctoral scholar will work on research topics related to computational astrophysics and data analysis, with an emphasis on cosmology and the evolution of the early universe. The scholar will also have a courtesy affiliation with the Nevada Center for Astrophysics (NCfA).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a PhD Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Astronomy, or an associated field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior research experience in astrophysics and/or cosmology, as well as a strong publication history are desired.

SALARY RANGE

This position is contingent upon funding with an annual salary of $50,000.
