Outreach Liaison, United Way Youth Venture

Mount Wachusett Community College

Job Description

The Outreach Liaison is responsible for program implementation of United Way Youth Venture (UWYV), a program that engages young people, primarily in grades K-14, in the creation and development of youth-led and youth-created teams to uniquely address social and civic challenges. During the process of action planning, the Outreach Liaison ensures that youth learn critical leadership skills including teamwork, empathy, problem-solving, and well-being. In order to implement this youth-driven program, the Outreach Liaison cultivates supportive relationships with educators and program partners in academic, afterschool, and community settings, providing a proven model for youth ownership in learning, development of real-world skills, and discovery and leveraging of individual passions.

The UWYV program is housed within the Access & Transition Division of Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC), which includes the Senator Stephen M. Brewer Center for Civic Learning & Community Engagement, and partners with K-12 schools and community organizations across the region. UWYV represents a 20-year partnership between MWCC, the United Way of North Central Massachusetts, and Ashoka's Youth Venture, representing the first, oldest, and largest Youth Venture program in the world, making the North Central Massachusetts region the international hub for youth-led "changemaking."
