Full Job Description

Summary:
The SPLC is the premier U.S. nonprofit advocacy organization working to serve as a catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond. We work in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and advance human rights of all people. SPLCs Intelligence Project department is one of the foremost teams researching and reporting on the leaders and groups within, as well as trends and drivers of far-right, white nationalist, and anti-democratic movements. This position will have the opportunity to leverage the knowledge and analysis cultivated in real-time by our research analysts and investigative reporters to help craft legal and policy recommendations and to build innovative collaborations internally and externally. The Intelligence Project currently track hundreds of hard and far-right groups operating across the country and publishes investigative reports, shares key intelligence, and offers expert analysis to the media and public.
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Prevention & Partnerships in the Intelligence Project and working closely with the Federal Policy Department, the Intelligence Project Fellow will help elevate, innovate, and integrate the work of Intelligence Project subject matter experts. This one-year fellowship will be situated within the Prevention & Partnerships team of the Intelligence Project which works to reduce and prevent harms related to radicalization toward far-right, white nationalist, and anti-democratic extremism, to create resources that foreground community resilience, and to elevate other innovative partnerships and evidence-based approaches. This position will help conduct research into innovative best practices and safe approaches and legal, legislative, and regulatory action related to those topics.
The Intelligence Project team – and this position – will work closely with colleagues in SPLCs Federal Policy team to turn research into actionable policy recommendations and targeted advocacy. Pursuant to this objective, this one-year fellow will work closely with all of the Intelligence Project's experts, legal experts both within SPLC and external to the organization, and community stakeholders to identify best practices and legal, legislative, and regulatory actions to confront white nationalism, hate, harmful conspiracies to mobilize public support and action for SPLC's recommendations at the Federal level to promote policies and laws that will eliminate structural racism and the inequalities that fuel the oppression of people of color, immigrants, young people, women, low-income people, and the LGBTQ+ community.
The Federal Policy team works to advance the SPLC's mission through advocacy directed at government officials, and by crafting and promoting, legal, regulatory, and legislative recommendations.
This is a fellowship position that will end after one year.
