The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/Engineer 1.

We are seeking a motivated individual to further the investigation of Alzheimer disease and other neurodegenerative syndromes using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). We are a collaborative, translational team identifying cell-type specific mechanisms of genetic risk to the development of AD.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will support Research activities including but not limited to:
• Generation and maintenance of iPSC lines. 10%
• Differentiation of iPSC into progenitor neural cells and neuron/glia. 35%
• Screening various drug compounds for cellular toxicity and AD phenotypes. 20%
• Defining and adapting neuronal and glial differentiation protocols for functional assays. 15%
• Assist in the training as supervision of students, postdoctoral fellows and other laboratory staff. 10%
• Contribute to the coordination of lab organization and function as needed: ordering supplies, maintaining and orderly lab environment. 10%

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of related work experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
