Postdoctoral Appointee -Thin films and interfaces of topological semimetals

Argonne

Job Description

The Materials Science Division (MSD) of Argonne National Laboratory is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral appointee.

The research project aims at discovery and elucidation of fundamental properties of thin films and interfaces of topological semimetals. Experimental work involves synthesis using Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) and sputtering based approaches, and characterization using a broad range of probes. The goal of the research is to unveil novel transport, magnetic and optical properties of thin films and heterostructures of this class of materials.

Position Requirements

  • A strong background in materials science/condensed mater physics, a keen interest in materials with novel topological properties and synthesis of novel materials

  • Expertise with electronic transport and magnetic measurements

  • You should have recently received a Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the research area (materials science/condensed matter physics) with 0 to 3 years of experience or equivalent

The work will involve extensive use of facilities at the Center for Nanoscale Materials and beamlines at the Advanced Photon Source. The candidate is expected to think and work independently and conduct research in a highly interdisciplinary environment of physicists and materials scientists.

For inquiries regarding the position please contact Dr. Anand Bhattacharya (anand@anl.gov). We will evaluate applications starting in January 2023 until the position is filled.
