The Opportunity

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure earning lecturer position anticipated to begin in August 2023.  

This is an undergraduate teaching-intensive position. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and leadership. Candidates will be expected to have the qualifications and skills necessary to teach large (250+ students) undergraduate introductory courses in Cultural and General Anthropology, and upper-level sociocultural anthropology courses such as Medical Anthropology. Teaching assignments are based on department needs with full-time lecturers normally teaching 4 classes per semester (spring/fall) based on the department’s current workload policy. Opportunities to earn additional salary may arise through teaching summer classes if funding is available. 

The Department of Anthropology currently includes 21 faculty who are committed to innovative teaching at the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. level.  Anthropology faculty demonstrate significant scholarly research, collaborative community partnership development, and active professional organization involvement. Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Anthropology or a closely related area is required by start of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with broad theoretical and topical interests in sociocultural anthropology.
