Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.


Unit Position Summary
  • We seek a technician to assist with laboratory assays in a biogeochemistry and soil ecology laboratory at North Carolina State University, working closely with Christine Hawkes’ laboratory (https://hawkeslab.wordpress.ncsu.edu/). The technician will work on a project addressing how drought affects soil carbon cycling on global scales. Common duties will include measuring CO2 efflux from soil, drying and weighing soil, cleaning dishware and other lab supplies, sample labeling and organization, and data entry. This is a great opportunity to get experience in a research laboratory, and the successful applicant will work closely with postdoctoral researchers and others in the lab.

  • Desired Qualifications

    BA or BS degree in soil science, ecology, microbiology, biogeochemistry, or plant biology.
