Responsibilities*

Position Summary:  The Annual Giving Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Executive Director of Annual and Reunion Giving with the overall operation of the Law School’s annual giving program, including the Reunion Giving Program and other Law School programs.  The Annual Giving Coordinator is responsible for coordinating mail and email solicitations and communications, working with volunteers and donors, and reporting on the progress of the Law School Fund and programs.  This person will work as an integral part of the Annual Giving Team to implement a comprehensive annual giving program.

Project Management 

  • Work with the Annual Giving Team to execute a comprehensive communication and solicitation program for more than 20,000 alumni, friends and donors. 
  • Manage communications and solicitations distributed by the Law School directly and working with vendors on timelines, budget and other necessary items. 
  • Compile and compose briefing materials for the dean for the Law School Fund (LSF) and Reunion events.  Manage the updates to the LSF website in conjunction with Communications and IT.
  • Collaborate with the Annual Giving Office within the Office of University Development regarding direct mail solicitations as well as coordinating regarding call center outreach campaign to Law School Alumni.
  • Create and send emails to volunteers, alumni and donors.
  • Coordinate the annual Philanthropy Awareness Day.
  • Select and distribute gifts for committee members, donors and alumni.

Reporting & Reconciling 

  • Create, run and analyze reunion giving reports.
  • Create and maintain reports in Business Objects to track progress of various Law School donor events.
  • Prepare monthly and annual giving reports and review pledges monthly and annually.
  • Reconcile and report the Annual Giving budget in a database.

Volunteer Coordination 

  • Communicate with Law School Class Agents to provide updates, discuss email projects and respond to questions. 
  • Assist with the coordination of student volunteers for fundraising programs.
  • Coordinate and steward reunion committee members, as needed.

Donor and Alumni Relations 

  • Monitor multiple department emails and respond to inquiries from alumni, donors and volunteers as needed.

Administrative and Miscellaneous

  • Work as part of a support staff team to provide excellent customer service to visitors, donors, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide appropriate back-up coverage for other administrative support staff members as needed.
  • Create and maintain efficient paper and electronic filing systems.
  • Gather, record, and properly store information about prospects, donors, solicitations, communications, committees and events utilizing DART and collaboration tools.
  • Maintain calendars.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of administrative support experience, preferably in a fundraising environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with Google apps and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness and ability to actively contribute and collaborate.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
  • Discretion when dealing with highly sensitive information and a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to set priorities, handle multiple assignments and deadlines; display excellent judgment, while operating in a flexible and professional manner in a fast paced and team oriented environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to perform the characteristic duties and responsibilities of the position to effectively meet the needs of prospects, donors and the University of Michigan community.  Ability to anticipate requests and needs in advance and plan accordingly

Desired Qualifications*

  • Knowledge or expertise with specialized database systems: DART, ROI.
  • Knowledge of concur or prior expense reporting experience.
