Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities and devising and implementing the sales campaigns and strategies in assigned markets; achieving revenue and sales targets and KPIs; informing marketing priorities; identifying and nurturing High-Value Opportunities (HVOs); and working closely with the test center network and other strategic partners and stakeholders within a specified region to meet business metrics.

Responsibilities*

  • Devise and implement an agreed business development strategy in the region and ensure that annual sales targets by product, revenue and region are met. Develop and execute sales campaigns regionally to obtain new business opportunities and build a sales pipeline to support sales and revenue targets.
  • Support Test Centers to achieve annual sales targets; discuss and approve their annual strategy and business plans for our products and services, offer on-going sales support and training and support their sales activity at a regional level. Make recommendations for new test centers.
  • Generate stakeholder leads and nurture potential HVOs. Identify new opportunities for relationships with organizations that prepare candidates for or recognize our exams, or can increase sales through the Institutional Affiliate program. Meet with decision-makers, and establish new business relationships to ensure that opportunities are maximized and targets are met. Where new business opportunities exist, ensuring well researched recommendations and proposals for exploiting these are presented to senior management and the customer in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team and external agencies (as relevant) to ensure that the marketing strategy for the market/region is aligned with business development goals and priorities, and that the tactical implementation in market is on message, and timely according to the local educational calendar. Make recommendations on priority products, segments and messaging for local conferences and events, and liaise with the marketing team to ensure that marketing collateral is fit for purpose.
  • Act as a beacon figure to government, educational and corporate stakeholders to position our business as their preferred option. Support and attend online and local events and conferences, representing our organization and brand, and gaining insights to inform market trends and product strategy and identify stakeholder opportunities.
  • Ensure appropriate reporting on sales activity, revenue pipeline, and other business metrics are completed via CRM and other channels. Identify and make recommendations on market trends and customer needs.

Required Qualifications*

  • Minimum C1 level of English; C1 level of local language (Spanish)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Good networking and relationship building
  • Strong customer focus
  • Competency in standard IT software packages, e.g. CRM, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
  • Experience developing and executing sales campaigns
  • Experience in selling in the ELT or education sectors

Desired Qualifications*

  • Postgraduate level qualification in marketing, business, or a related field
  • Intercultural competence
  • Creativity in bundling solutions and addressing markets needs that may differ from one country to another
  • Experience in promoting assessment products and services
  • Business development experience in the market of recruitment
  • Experience developing and executing digital marketing campaigns
  • Managing education projects in the higher education, school, or corporate sector
  • Experience selling to both the corporate and governmental sector

Work Locations

This position may be eligible for remote and/or flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the hiring department. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment.

Michigan Language Assessment is seeking candidates located in Mexico, specifically in or around Mexico City and supports a fully remote work from home schedule with occasionally scheduled in person activities both locally and in the USA.

Salary range for the position is $750,000 MXN - $825,000 MXN.
