Job Description

Ozarka College in Melbourne is seeking qualified applicants for a Business Manager in the Finance Department.  The Business Manager works under the direction of the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration.  Working collaboratively with the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Business Manager will provide leadership in the Finance Department and College. 

Position Specific:

  • Provide managerial responsibilities for auxiliary enterprises, general accounting, student account receivables, accounts payable, payroll, procurement and financial reporting.
  • Establish and monitor Business Office procedures and processes.
  • Prepare internal and external financial reports including biennial requests, annual financial reports, monthly budget status reports, and special requests.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and serve as liaison with external auditors during annual review.
  • Serve as P-card and Travel Card Coordinator. 
  • Ensure scholarship/loan/pell disbursements and refunds are made in timely manner and reconciled.
  • Maintain and audit student accounts.
  • Prepare annual 1098T tax statements.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation.
  • Monitor insurance programs to ensure appropriate coverage for buildings, contents, vehicles, inland marine and professional liability.
  • Monitor pledging/collateralization reports to ensure appropriate FDIC insurance coverage.
  • Serve on Ozarka College committees as assigned to assist in providing programs and services that develop and enhance students as members of the college community.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities of an Ozarka College employee as outlined in a timely and effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Master’s degree or CPA preferred
  • Previous experience in Higher Education or accounting experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of a computer as it relates to specific position requirements
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning and professional development
  • Demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy
  • Demonstrated commitment to assisting students and faculty
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and team building skills
  • Demonstrated effective organization skills
