Job Description:

Description of Department: The Accounting Finance & Law department is part of SUNY Oswego's AACSB-accredited School of Business. The department offers accounting, finance, risk management & insurance undergraduate degrees and offers courses in the graduate program. The School of Business also offers undergraduate degrees in business administration, human resource management, marketing, and operations management and a highly ranked Master of Business Administration program with degrees in management, health service administration, and combined five-year degrees (BS/MBA). Our online MBA program is nationally ranked by Fortune, U.S. News & World Report, and the Princeton Review.

The Bachelor of Science in Finance is a CFA Institute-affiliated program. Annually, the department awards CFA scholarships and fields a CFA Research Challenge team. Students can participate in the SUNY Oswego Student Investment Fund, which manages over $600,000 of endowed funds. Additionally, the students have access to a Bloomberg terminal for class projects and investment research. Finance students have numerous career opportunities and access to many successful alums.

The School of Business has international partnerships and has sponsored an annual student research conference with Shanghai Normal University. The School of Business has hosted over 50 visiting international research scholars over the last 20 years. The School of Business values excellence in teaching and a commitment to research, instructional development, and service in a diverse and global environment.

The School of Business at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications from qualified professionals to teach varied business courses offered through its Department of Accounting, Finance and Law and the Department of Marketing and Management. Description of Responsibilities: The faculty member must maintain professional or academic currency and teach course(s) at undergraduate/graduate level in multiple modalities (e.g. in-person, online) as needed in any of the following areas:

  • Marketing *Sales * Management * Human Resources
  • Accounting (Audit, Taxation, Accounting Analytics etc.)
  • Project Management *Business Analytics * Finance
  • Healthcare Administration * Risk Management & Insurance *Business Law

Maintain regular office hours to assist students; respond to students' communications in a timely manner; provide timely, consistent and frequent feedback by performing accurate assessments of student performance. Actively support the school's AACSB accreditation goals by participating in assessment of learning and submitting credentials for periodic review as required by the school. Maintain instructional practitioner status by constantly updating own professional competencies in the subject area and professional development in instructional methodologies through opportunities provided by the SUNY Oswego's Center for Education and Learning Technologies (CELT). Must demonstrate constant engagement in the field, service in the profession, and/or in the community. Effective planning, organizing, communication, and interpersonal skills including use of tact and discretion and the ability to meet deadlines. May perform other related tasks as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, and/or Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or a terminal degree in the required discipline or related field
  • Continuing professional credentials that demonstrate maintenance of Instructional Practitioner (IP) in a field that is related to their teaching assignment; this typically would mean that the candidates have post-degree significant managerial and leadership experience in the industry, including not for profit sectors
  • Effective communication, interpersonal skills and a commitment to student success
  • Sensitivity to academic and cultural diversity; a demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment in your professional experience that will align with SUNY Oswego's diversity & inclusion goals; a clear vision for embracing a business curriculum that incorporates challenges and solutions for a multicultural, inclusive and diverse business environment and workforce
  • Demonstrated proficiency using state-of-the-art computer applications in their discipline, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
