Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Manager, Summer Programs. The Manager, Summer Programs is responsible for the on and off-season operations of all the summer programs supported by the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.  This includes the 10-week Comprehensive Research Experiences to Advance Training and Education (CREATE) as well as assisting with ad hoc placements of summer research students in Sylvester member research labs and ensuring that tasks related to maintaining a robust programmatic infrastructure and databases are appropriately and accurately completed.


• Tracking CREATE programmatic budget and expenditures
• Creating and maintaining the scholar information database and correspondence, including recommendation requests from past scholars and letters from appropriate entities
• Liaising with the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) and Medical IT to ensure setup and maintenance of the program website (including overview, key application dates, up-to-date application information and forms, and past records)
• Managing information requests and applications, sending application status communications, and tracking acceptance responses (including reasons for declining) and contracts
• Scheduling review panels, Advisory Committee meetings, and other administrative meetings
• Contacting program faculty, clinicians, and trainee participants to help finalize and schedule program seminars, workshops, shadowing sessions, and other events
• Arranging travel, HR onboarding (hiring of participants), housing, access to training and orientation, consent forms, and tracking training completion records
• Communicating with the OET & OGS for program assistance and integration with broader SCCC & OGS educational initiatives
• Serving as the program liaison for the Postdoctoral Association, the Biomedical Graduate Council, other trainee programs, and the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement
• Attending one national meeting a year (e.g. CABTRAC, ABRCMS, SACNAS) with the Program Director to advertise and recruit for the program and develop network contacts
• Coordinating social events for CREATE scholars during the duration of the 10-week program
• Conducting regular evaluations of all programmatic activities and periodic surveys of former participants

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to establish positive, respectful rapport with students, faculty and other professionals

  • Must be promptly responsive to communications from leadership, admin and students

  • Interest in fostering the development of STEM career-aspiring students

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail

  •  Fluent with financial management and budget preparation

  • Ability to work with faculty, students, and administrators from diverse backgrounds

  •  Ability to work under pressure in a very busy environment and manage multiple initiatives that overlap in time. Flexibility and team building skills. Job dedication and willingness to manage and attend occasional events in the evening or on weekends, or at out-of-town venues

  • Strong professional initiative with excellent leadership with capability to work with minimal supervision

  • Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X, Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook/Exchange), Adobe Acrobat and Qualtrics.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms is desirable.
