We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join an academic-style lab to train under Dr. Cheng-Yuan Kao, Senior Scientist, and Dr. Menno van Lookeren Campagne, VP, Inflammation Research Therapeutic Area at Amgen. This is a unique opportunity to be part of Amgens industry postdoc center of excellence initiative located at our research site in South San Francisco, California. The successful candidate will have access to Amgens cutting-edge technologies and innovation in the context of a highly collaborative environment, with sufficient opportunities to interact with other postdoctoral fellows and scientists.

The initial focus of the Postdoctoral Fellow is to investigate the biology of how epithelial cells and immune cells interact in mucosal inflammation and dysbiosis. The strategy is to combine multi-omics and complementary in vitro and in vivo mechanistic approaches in organoids, genetically engineered mice and models of mucosal inflammation. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be encouraged and expected to make significant scientific contributions to the field, present work in internal and external settings including oral and poster presentations at scientific conferences, lead writing manuscripts and publish in impactful journals.

The postdoctoral position is for 3 years with the option to extend for an additional year.

Basic Qualifications:

• PhD at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in the field of mucosal inflammation, genomics/human genetics, molecular biology, or cell biology
• Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a solid peer-reviewed publication record in impactful journals
• Preferred technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: mucosal immunity, microbiota, organoid platforms, in vivo mouse models, multi-color flow cytometry, epigenetics and multi-omics analysis.

The annual salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $81,522 $90,586.
