Dr. Yan has broad interest in physiological, neural, behavioral plasticity in eusocial insects. He and his colleagues developed the genetic tools in ants and discovered neural plasticity in the development of insect olfactory system: http://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28802043/
Details of Dr. Yan's laboratory, ongoing research projects, and recent publications can be found at: http://yanlab.biology.ufl.edu.

Research projects may involve but not limited to (1) developmental plasticity of olfactory neurons that express expanded number of odorant receptors; (2) genetic and epigenetic mechanisms underlying the expression profiles of odorant receptors; (3) chemosensory-mediated social communication and behavior.

Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Genetics and/or Genomics. Candidates with prior research experience in genetic model systems, such as fruit flies, nematodes or vertebrates are highly encouraged to apply.

Interested applicants should directly send the following documents in an application packet, preferably as a single PDF file, by email to Dr. Hua Yan (hua.yan@ufl.edu):
