Job Description

Our mission is to unlock the grace of giving in advancing Notre Dame’s mission. We value trust, transparency, teamwork, feedback, driving change and having fun. If this sounds like a place you want to be, read on.

The Regional Director, Athletics Advancement represents the University of Notre Dame to leadership benefactors with an Athletics affiliation. You will work in close partnership with Athletics administration, coaches and Development Department colleagues to develop and close leadership level philanthropic gifts. These gifts support the University’s fundraising priorities, which include athletics as well as other priorities that benefactors feel called to support. Working with colleagues, you will strategically identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts that join together the philanthropic interests of donors with the priorities and needs of the University and Athletics Department, structuring gifts appropriately to each benefactor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Identification, cultivation and solicitation that joins together the philanthropic interests of donors with the priorities and needs of the University, with a particular focus on those related to the Department of Athletics.

* Attend a significant number of regional and campus events as a representative of the University. Travel (approximately 50% of work time) as well as evening and weekend activity is routine.

* Develop significant long-term relationships with current and potential future benefactors whose resources will be integral to supporting the athletics mission of Notre Dame. Establish and maintain a rapport with each benefactor and encourage, support and sustain the benefactor’s philanthropic relationship with Notre Dame.

* Promote teamwork within the region and across the development department and work as a true partner with peers to match each benefactor’s vision with the needs of the University.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At the University of Notre Dame we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree.
* 5 to 6 years of experience.
* 5+ years of demonstrated success in cultivating and soliciting gifts, or a demonstrated track record of closing complex agreements, including interaction with CEO-level benefactors or customers.

* Demonstrated superb oral and written communications skills.
* Evidence of ability to easily develop rapport with and networks of leadership level benefactors.
* Effective at collegial working relationships.
* Proven ability to set priorities and map direction on concurrent fronts.
* Experience managing of a complex project from concept to execution; clear evidence of time management and organizational skills.
