Job Description


The Department of Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in a federally-funded laboratory. Applicants must have an MD, PhD, or equivalent. The research will utilize large animal(porcine) models of cancer, limb ischemia, hemorrhage, and other diseases, and will require expertise in cancer biology and methods of molecular biology, gene transfer, gene editing, biochemistry, cell biology, cell culture, and vertebrate animal models, including genetically-engineered mice. No prior experience with swine handling is required. The work will include derivation, characterization, and validation of novel cancer cell lines and viral vectors for in vivo studies, and generation, characterization, and validation of stem cell lines. The projects will be directed by Dr. Mark Carlson. An emphasis will be placed on laboratory technical expertise, scientific experimental design, problem-solving abilities, collaborative skills, communication skills (written and oral), and grantsmanship.
