Job Summary
The Center for Wind Energy at UT Dallas (UTD Wind) seeks to fill a research scientist position in optimization and control of wind energy systems. The successful candidate will be part of a team of faculty members, graduate students and industry partners developing methodology and new technologies to enhance the performance, reliability and resilience of wind energy systems. The position is to lead or support projects involving the modeling and control of wind turbine generators and wind plants. The successful candidate is expected to assist in the supervision of graduate students and have an active participation in the development of sponsored research.
UT Dallas is home to a site of WindSTAR, an NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for use?inspired R&D for the advancement of wind energy science & technology. UTD Wind is also lead or partner in three multi?million?dollar projects funded by ARPA?E.
Minimum Education and Experience

- Master’s degree in field directly related to research- Two (2) years of experience/expertise performing research relating to a specified field of study- Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling at least eight years.

Preferred Education and Experience
Required: Ph.D. in Engineering or Computer Science with emphasis in one or more of the following: control theory, control systems technology, real?time optimization and/or machine learning. Design and implementation of real?time control systems, including wind tunnel and/or filed testing. Two years of experience as a postdoctoral research associate working in modeling, optimization and control of wind energy systems are preferred.
