Director of Security is charged with the protection of employees, visitors, contractors, patients and all properties of Planned Parenthood of Maryland.

Overview of the job duties:

    • Act as the central point of contact regarding security compliance and final escalation for security issues.
    • Advise and coordinate operational activities to include notable threats, active incidents, and situation awareness.
    • Develops and implements policies, procedures, standards, training and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, tampering, sabotage or loss.
    • Maintains files and documents all incidents to safety and buildings.
    • Plans, develops, coordinates, and oversees all investigations relating to criminal or other acts which have or may have detrimental effect on PPM. Prepares and documents investigations for HR, legal counsel, or law enforcement agencies.
    • Continuously evaluate the organization's existing application security practices, help to define, standardize, and measure security-related activities, and demonstrate concrete improvements to the application assurance program within the customer organization.
    • Ensure all security access control procedures are strictly adhered to such as issuance of appropriate facility access badges for contractors and associates who forgot their badges, utilizing the Security Access Control System to verify identity and employment status.
    • Respond to any incidents that occur during shift, ensuring appropriate action is taken, all reports are properly completed, and appropriate parties are notified in a timely manner.
    • Maintain surveillance of building and security cameras.
    • Work with Facilities Manager on required building inspections.
    • Assist with building emergencies such as evacuations and fire alarms to ensure the safety of all. Security support, including alarm response for seven locations (Baltimore, Owings Mills, Towson, Frederick, Annapolis, Waldorf and Easton).
    • Implement, and Administer Security Awareness Training.
    • Provide support to team, including building access badging, physical security, security briefings, awareness and training, and general security support, including alarm response for seven locations.
    • Conduct investigations for security incidents and ensure compliance with Local and Federal Government agencies and ensure company regulations are followed.
    • Works in conjunction with IT specialists.

Work Experience:

    • Work requires the ability to lead and direct multiple projects and functions.
    • Requires a minimum of five years progressively responsible, full-time managerial and administrative experience in law enforcement or healthcare security, or any combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

    • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
    • Thorough knowledge of security operations and regulatory requirements.
    • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills necessary to establish and maintain effective rapport with medical and security staff, and the public
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or related field and/or 10 years of progressive Security experience.
