The UCF College of Community Innovation and Education (CCIE) is a one-of-a-kind academic unit with distinct, interdisciplinary expertise and potential for partnership with community stakeholders, conceived to address societal challenges and work alongside the community. The School of Teacher of Teacher Education in the College of Community Innovation and Education at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-earning assistant professor, anticipated to begin August 2023.

The selected candidate will contribute to the Exceptional Education program mission by:

•    Conduct research in area(s) of expertise.

•    Seek external funding in area of expertise.

•    Teach courses in exceptional education.

•    Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.

•    Recruit and mentor doctoral students.

•    Facilitate meaningful research experiences.

•    Actively participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.

•    Engage in professional outreach at local and national levels.

•    Engage in an active program of research that leads to high-impact publications and presentations.

•    Teach, supervise, and advise undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in the exceptional education program.

•    Collaborate with faculty colleagues on interdisciplinary research, teaching, and scholarship.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or terminal degree from an accredited institution in special education or a closely related field by start of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Collaborations spanning multiple interdisciplinary projects.

  • An interest in seeking external funding for scholarly activities.

  • Experience mentoring research and teaching activities for junior faculty and doctoral students.

  • Experience in successfully teaching upper-division undergraduate courses in Exceptional Education.

  • An interdisciplinary research agenda.

  • Experience teaching classes across various modalities.

  • A record of leadership in scholarship, teaching, and service.

  • Engaging in the community through partnerships with colleagues in public schools and related agencies and organizations.

  • Engaging in service within the profession.

  • Participation in state and national accreditation initiatives.
