Scholarship Assistant
Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Represent the Foundation in a responsible manner – public relations are a priority.
· Carry out all Joe Barnhart Scholarship Program policies as specified by the Foundation.
· Promote awareness of the JBSP mission, programs and events in the community.
· Assist the JBSP Director and Scholarship Specialist as directed.
· Encourage students to maximize their educational growth.
· Publicize The Joe Barnhart Scholarship Program during campus registration and attend campus meetings.
· Interact with students, parents, A. C. Jones High School staff, Moreno Jr. High staff, The Joe Barnhart Academy, volunteers, Beeville Independent School District staff and Coastal Bend College.
· Assist with the Scholarship Program activities such as Mentor/Students meetings, yearly appreciation function, Evening of Excellence and associated meetings.
· Attend routine staff meetings and all JBF sponsored field trips.
· Errands: personal auto use required; mileage reimbursement provided at IRS standard rates.
· Other requests as needed.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
· Greet all visitors in the JBSP office and determine their reason for visiting.
· Answer all inbound calls to the JBSP office and deliver messages to the appropriate party.
· Handle JBSP front office responsibilities to include: maintain furniture and equipment inventories, JBSP office supplies, water orders, and student computer lab.
· Supervise Student Assistants and students using the Computer Lab in the JBSP office.
· Organize Student Assistant events to include.
· Submit JBSP announcements to campus office and Bee-Picayune.
· Scan/maintain Bee-Picayune articles associated with JBSP.
· Maintain files for students and volunteers.
· Student Mentors
· Manage all communication with mentors and BISD staff, identify/compile a list of seniors to be matched with a mentor, schedule mentor-student appointments, create monthly checklist for mentors, send birthday cards to mentors, and compile booklets for new mentors.
· Oversee the completion of thank you notes for teacher recommendations and scholarship recipients.
· Assist with JBSP activities and events such as yearly appreciation function, Evening of Excellence, and associated meetings.
· Check JBSP post office box for inbound mail and distribute to the appropriate party.
· Coordinate Honor Cords for graduating Seniors.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $30,000.00 per year
