Position Description

Advertised Job Summary	The successful candidate will be able to synthesize chalcogenide and oxychalcogenide powders and single crystals and to characterize them with respect to structure and physical properties. Be able to develop new synthetic approaches for the synthesis of f-block materials. The candidate will help with writing papers and proposals. The candidate will assist with supervising graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate will have the ability to carry out complex data analyses and to work on several projects simultaneously and ability to perform solid state material syntheses.
Minimum Qualifications	Ph.D. in solid state, inorganic, materials chemistry or physics.
Preferred Qualifications	Expertise in the synthesis of chalcogenides and magnetic measurements, knowledge of Rietveld refinements and single crystal X-ray diffraction.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities	The individual must have hands on experience with X-ray diffraction, computers, and the use of scientific software. Also, applicant must have the ability to operate or learn how to operate complex scientific equipment as well as have experience in the area of solid-state materials chemistry.
