Job Description:

Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics is seeking candidates for a full-time position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track). The candidate must have an established record of independent and collaborative research using animal models in preclinical investigations to identify new therapies for Alzheimer's disease. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in studies of mitochondrial biology, oxidative stress, and analysis of behavioral studies, with a sustained record of peer-reviewed publications related to the field. Competitive applicants will ideally also have additional experience with biochemistry, neurochemistry, biostatical methods, immunohistology, microscopy, unbiased stereology, animal protocol preparation. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is an ability to supervise graduate and undergraduate students and to work in a collaborative environment on projects that involve several laboratories and PIs. The successful candidate will work with investigators in the UF Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Disease to create an independent research program. Participation in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics educational programs will include mentoring graduate students and undergraduate researchers, and participation in departmental online courses. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Expected Salary:

$70,000 - $80,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

PhD and/or MD in pharmacology and/or related field. At least 6 years post-doctoral fellowship experience or the equivalent

Preferred Qualifications: Direct experience using animal models in preclinical investigations to identify new therapies for Alzheimer's disease. Strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
