The UX Summer Internship Program is a critical program within Citizens for cultivating talented, young professionals who aspire to be leaders in designing and developing exceptional digital experiences. As part of this program, you’ll be asked to be part of something larger than yourself and participate in a journey to help customers reach their potential. This deep level of customer-centricity feeds every aspect of our business from developing strategies, how we market our brand, development of products (such as savings, student loans, investments), to the advancement of our channel capabilities (Mobile, Online, ATM, Branch, and Contact Center).

In this 10-week program, you will have the opportunity to gain a strong understanding of UX at Citizens. You’ll participate in critical projects, meet senior leaders, and develop a transferable skill set that may position you for future full-time opportunities upon graduation.

 

Designed for rising seniors, this program is a great way to gain exposure to the many facets of creating digital experiences and products from feature prioritization through deployment to production.

During the summer you could be working on:

  • Concepting new features using wireframes, designs, and/or functional prototypes
  • Conducting competitor and industry analysis to inform product roadmaps
  • Synthesizing real user data to provide insights on customers’ wants and needs
  • Designing digital experiences to increase user engagement and follow thru
  • Contributing to group critiques and discussions on solving user problems with design or technology
  • Participating in agile ceremonies as part of the software development lifecycle
  • Optimizing graphical assets for performant delivery through multiple digital channels
  • Presenting solutions to senior leaders

 

As an intern in this program, we will match you with a full-time colleague in your discipline who will serve as your Mentor and help guide you through the duration of the program. You’ll be able to participate in a variety of activities to further develop yourself as a professional. Throughout the summer, you’ll experience:

  • 1-day Orientation with all UX interns
  • Professional development workshops (such as Personal Branding and Receiving Feedback)
  • Weekly Senior Speaker Series with Digital executive leadership
  • Dedicated community service activities
  • Intern Business Challenge where you’ll work in small teams to solve an organizational problem and present your recommendations to senior management

 

Qualifications

 

Who we’re looking for:

  • We’re looking for self-starters, team players, and strategic thinkers.
  • To be successful in this program, you’ll need to display strong skills and characteristics including analytical and critical thinking, communication, data analysis, detail-oriented, initiative, interpersonal, leadership, learning agility, project management, relationship building, strategic mindset, and time management.

 

What you’ll need to apply:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree
  • A major in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Art, Design, or similarly applicable focus
  • Expected graduation date of May 2024
  • Minimum GPA of 3.00 required (3.50+ preferred)

 

  • For the RESEARCH track, interns are highly encouraged to work onsite at our Westwood, MA office. Here, our team can expand their work in our new usability testing center!
