The Opportunity

The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) in the College of Sciences (COS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer in Media Production and Management anticipated to begin August 2023.

NSCM is especially interested in hiring faculty members who can contribute through their teaching and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community and foster an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive. NSCM is a student-centered school with a collegial faculty and staff. Students are active in internships and organizations on and off campus. The Media Production and Management program offers a B.A. with tracks in Production or Media Management and Operations. In addition to the Media Production and Management degree, the Film and Mass Media program includes journalism and film degrees. NSCM also has a robust partnership with WUCF Public Media, the public television, radio, and web outlet for Central Florida. Minimum Qualifications:

A master's degree (for an instructor) or a terminal degree (for a lecturer) in Radio, Television, Mass Media Production, or a related field (e.g., Film Production, Screenwriting, Film Arts, Mass Communication, etc.) from an accredited institution by the start of employment. Applicants must provide evidence of professional accomplishments and demonstrate a working familiarity with media production technologies and techniques. Applicants must also have excellent communication and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative educational environment with faculty, students, and administrators.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of college-level teaching experience in one or more of the following: videography, studio production, lighting, editing, production management, audio production, or media management. Professional experience and demonstrated fluency involving production, videography, lighting, editing and post-production workflows, post-sound design, color grading, or mixing is desired.
