Full Job Description

 

Facilitates the planning, implementation, and monitoring of professional development and learning opportunities for all faculty at Prince George’s Community College. The Center Director will demonstrate exceptional presentation, organization, communication, and management skills, as well as provide support to the faculty at the college. They will be able to create and foster a collaborative, diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning culture by designing, delivering, and promoting high quality professional development that supports these areas.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master’s degree in education, administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in education
  • Experience providing professional learning opportunities and/or instructor coaching
  • Experience designing and facilitating professional development for educators
  • Experience with successfully building partnerships and communicating priorities within and beyond the team
  • Successful experience as a teacher leader (e.g., department chair or instructional coach), or as a school leader (e.g., assistant principal or principal).
  • 3+ years of experience providing instructor professional development and/or instructor coaching
  • Have taught a minimum of 3 years as a full-time instructor in higher education or 6 semesters as a part-time faculty

 


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to analyze data to create effective programs.
  • Knowledge of evidenced-based professional development standards, and delivery models,
  • Knowledge of best practices in education, including pedagogy, theory, and andragogy.
  • Knowledge of current trends in higher education, teaching methods and strategies; best practices in faculty development; adult learning theory; planning and project management.
  • Knowledge of assessment, familiarity with budgets, and ability to support grants
  • Knowledge of creating and supporting faculty learning communities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Open Educational Resources.
  • Ability to teach and/or provide training in multiple modalities, i.e. face-to-face, online.
  • Ability to provide coaching and proper feedback.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences verbally and in writing, including electronic media.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and develop plans inclusive of all faculty (i.e. part-time faculty and continuing education faculty).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and encourage inter/intra unit collaboration.
  • Ability to work with internal and external partners to provide professional development opportunities.
  • Excellent organizational, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to successfully thrive in an environment of ambiguity, and to build and light a path that leads to results for instructors and students

Criteria
CRITERIA The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Develops, coordinates, and oversees professional development opportunities using internal and external resources.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and uses data to evaluate, improve, and report on program effectiveness, as well as create a plan for discipline specific professional development and learning.
  • Creates and develops a research-based and data-driven comprehensive approach to address professional development needs and instruction for all faculty, including continuing education and part-time faculty.
  • Communicates the goals, plans, and progress of the Center to administration and faculty so that internal and external resources can be identified that will support the goals and plans of the Center.
  • Collaborates with E-learning to address additional instructional/technical professional development needs of faculty.
  • Works collaboratively with the various departments in TLSS to establish positive working relationships and to identify faculty members who can support the advancement of professional development activities of the Center.
  • Identifies professional development and learning needs of the departments by reviewing and analyzing student success data, including continuing education areas.
  • Collaborates with faculty and related administrators on the design and implementation of a comprehensive professional development plan that includes all facets of professional development and learning including new hire faculty development, continuous growth of current faculty, content and structure of faculty course materials, and guidance and implementation of high-impact practices in pedagogy.
  • Provides support and oversees coordinators for service-learning and new faculty orientation.
  • Identifies, implements, and promotes professional development opportunities through multiple delivery models including structured workshops, conferences, and digital platforms.
  • Organizes, maintains, and supports relevant faculty learning communities that focus on the needs of various topics and/or divisional goals.
  • Keeps abreast of innovative professional development ideas that speak to diverse, equitable, and inclusive practices, and provide the college with the highest quality of training.
  • Collaborates with other departments offering professional development services that supports and/or enhances delivery of professional development opportunities for faculty members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview
