Job Description

Postdoctoral Fellow, Modifiable Risk Factors Program

Job no: 500163
Work type: Full-Time
Location: Hybrid/Flexible Work Arrangement
Categories: Drexel University, A.J. Drexel Autism Institute

Job Summary

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be based in the Modifiable Risk Factors Research Program (MRF) at the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute (AJDAI). Founded in 2012, the AJDAI is a university-level research institute that applies public health science approaches to autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The successful candidate will be actively involved in the AJDAI Autism Center of Excellence entitled Public Health and Autism Science advancing Equitable Strategies across the life course (PHASES). Specifically, the Fellow will be engaged in the MRF research aims in PHASES taking a life course epidemiology perspective to characterize trajectories of health and services use across age of autistic young persons and study the interplay between these trajectories on future health, with special consideration of under-represented minorities and socioeconomically disadvantaged subgroups. The Fellow will have a unique opportunity to work on this large-scale collaborative project while applying novel methods using linked national-level data sets to better understand mechanisms affecting outcomes. The Fellow will join the MRF team engaged in both pre- and perinatal risk factor research and research into risk and protective factors operating across the life course of autistic persons. The MRF program has access to a range of data sets, with new initiatives constantly in development, and program faculty collaborate regularly with an extensive network of leading researchers worldwide. This position will be under the primary mentorship of Dr. Diana Schendel, co-PI of PHASES, with the opportunity for additional mentorship and collaboration with other AJDAI, Dornsife School of Public Health and Drexel faculty
