About the Department of Education Leadership, Policy, and Human Development
The Department of Education Leadership, Policy, and Human Development (ELPHD) comprises 40 full-time faculty members and more than 750 students. ELPHD advances education through scholarship, leadership, and advocacy. Faculty in ELPHD prepare counselors, educational leaders, and workplace professionals who are committed to equity and social justice and aim to improve education—from K-12 schools, to community colleges and universities, to workplace training—through applied theory, rigorous research, professional ethics, and data-driven best practice. Essential Job Duties
The Department of Educational Leadership Policy, and Human Development seeks an exceptional candidate to work in the area of Counseling Education. This appointment will be a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor in the Counselor Education program area. A successful candidate will be expected to maintain a record of scholarly research, publication, and grant-writing in counseling and counselor education that is aligned with a tenure track position in a research university (very high research activity).
The position includes teaching courses and providing supervision within the Counselor Education program; providing support for on-campus and distance education components of the master and doctoral programs in counselor education; recruiting, advising, mentoring, and supervising graduate students in research, clinical development, and dissertation supervision; providing service and leadership to the program area, department, college, university, and professional organizations; participating in outreach and service for department and college initiatives for underserved communities and high needs areas; engaging with stakeholders across the state of North Carolina; and contributing to the overall departmental and college missions through research, teaching, extension, and service.

Minimum Education and Experience
- The successful candidate will have an earned doctoral degree from a CACREP accredited Counselor Education Program.
Other Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, extension, and service.
- Demonstrated experience in school and/or college counseling.
- A commitment to multiculturalism, equity, diversity, and collaboration.
- An established or developing program of research.
- NC Counselor licensure or license eligible within 5 years of assuming the position.
- Demonstrated capacity to work with diverse students as well as to prepare future education professionals to work with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated potential for successful leadership in the field nationally and collaboration with faculty colleagues and community partners locally..
- Demonstrated online teaching experience and related skills and online teaching certifications.
- A strong record of, or potential for, external research funding in counseling and counselor education.
- Telemental health counseling experience and/or related certifications and/or licensure.
