MBCC Programs Outreach and Communications Graduate Internship

Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) is dedicated to preventing environmental causes of breast cancer through community education, research advocacy, and changes to public policy. We are seeking a graduate student intern to help support MBCC’s community outreach programs (including the award-winning Let’s Talk Prevention program) and communications. This internship involves frequent communication with MBCC’s Executive Director.

The flexibility of this internship is substantial given its work from home nature. Phone and internet will be the primary communication tools for assignments. Interns must commit to at least 12-15 hours per week.

Responsibilities include:

Environmental Health Program for Students:

  • Research and access new opportunities for outreach to key stakeholders in support of the Let’s Talk Prevention environmental health program for students
  • Maintain contact lists/keep contact information up to date
  • Develop communications strategies to expand the reach and engagement with local area schools, including both email and phone outreach

MBCC PFAS Campaign:

  • Monitor pending legislation on PFAS and develop communication strategies to inform and mobilize MBCC supporters

Let’s Talk Prevention Program:

  • Research and identify potential conferences, health fairs, and other environmental or health-related virtual and in-person events for MBCC to participate and attend these events as MBCC’s representative, interfacing with the public and sharing vital health information on ways to reduce toxic exposure
  • Develop communications strategies to drive awareness of community education materials available on the MBCC website

Website Content Support:

  • Conduct audit of MBCC website and identify areas in need of enhancement in an effort to ensure that the MBCC website is a key resource for relevant health content
  • Draft blog posts and other content as needed
  • Research and identify breast cancer support information and resources as needed to be added to the MBCC website

Qualifications: Graduate students with minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with competing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Gmail, Dropbox, Zoom, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Compensation: We are willing to work with institutions to offer student academic credit.

Job Type: Internship

Pay: Up to $0.10 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
