The lab of Dr. Christopher Fang-Yen, Biomedical Engineering, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher with experience in fields such as biomedical engineering, neurobiology, or biophysics. The position will offer competitive salary and benefits.

The Fang-Yen research group is a multidisciplinary research team that focuses developing approaches to understand how neural circuits create behavior using the roundworm C. elegans as a model.  Our lab is housed in the new state-of-the-art Fontana Labs on Ohio State’s main campus. This work involves collaborations with neurobiologists and engineers. Team members also have unique access to cross-disciplinary facilities and collaborations at our top-ranked schools of Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine.

The individual will be responsible for leading projects related to neurobiology and behavior.  Skills preferred, but not required, include experience with microscopy, C. elegans, computer programming, computational modeling, statistics, data analysis, genetics, and basic molecular biology.  Applicants must be able to manage projects with minimum direction; this includes running experiments, managing samples, collecting and processing data, summarizing data, writing abstracts and manuscripts, and performing critical review of relevant and current literature.

Required Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in engineering or sciences - related disciplines such as biomedical engineering, biomedical sciences, cell biology, physics, or equivalent. 2-4 years’ experience lab experience

Desired Qualifications:

Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills and attention to detail are a must. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are preferred. Diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply.


Additional Information:

Target Hiring Range: $50,000 - $60,000

Candidates may request a medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement. Campus employees may also request an exemption for personal reasons. Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine or OSUP Employees are not eligible for personal exemptions. All exemptions are subject to Ohio State’s approval and subject to change, including revocation, due to legal and regulatory requirements.
