LGBTQ youth suicide is a global public health crisis, and we estimate that more than 40 million LGBTQ youth seriously consider suicide each year globally. Overview of the role
Volunteers are central to The Trevor Project’s ability to fulfill our mission. As the International Volunteer Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the volunteer experience, from volunteer recruitment to volunteer engagement, across multiple countries. In this role, you will co-manage, along with each in-country Crisis Services Director, a global team of Volunteer Program Managers who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the volunteer program in their country. In this position, you will be responsible for developing roles on the in-country volunteer team, adapting volunteer intake, screening applicants, and collaborating with global staff. You must ensure all operating models work in different countries and cultural contexts. You must also work cross-functionally to meet objectives and key results, all to ensure volunteer recruitment, experience, and the overall program operates in a supportive and efficient way that meets the needs and realities in their country.

This new role will also be responsible for adapting current systems and processes in order to adjust them to each countries’ specific needs, all while maintaining focus on The Trevor Project’s service model and driving towards desired goals and outcomes. This role requires fluency in English and Spanish.

What you'll do

  • Lead all aspects of the volunteer programs across international expansion efforts, working in close collaboration with in-country leaders and U.S. staff.
  • Contribute to shaping the overall strategy for the international volunteer programs, from recruitment to experience, as the organization embarks on its expansion efforts.
  • Ensure International volunteer goals are being met by working with local stakeholders and teams
  • Co-manage, along with each in-country Crisis Services Director, a global team of Volunteer Program Managers, each with their own team of staff in-country
  • Ensure the day-to-day operations needed for all stages of the volunteer program are running smoothly and efficiently in each country. This includes high-volume volunteer selection and intake, application review, coordinating and conducting interviews, processing background checks, tracking applicant progress, and communicating with applicants along their recruitment and onboarding journey, as well as ensuring volunteers are trained, integrated into a shift schedule, working scheduled shifts, and receiving ongoing support throughout their volunteer experience
  • Monitor progress towards weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual goals and KPIs to ensure in-country teams have what they need to meet volunteer program goals
  • Initiate and manage projects in collaboration with the U.S. volunteer program teams
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement on your team to ensure volunteer applicant intake and screening processes, as well as the volunteer operating models, are reviewed and evaluated on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure policies and procedures are up-to-date so that prospective applicants in each country have a clear understanding of expectations at the onset of their experience
  • Ensure background check systems are set up and tailored to meet the specific needs in each country, which will include managing relationships with background check vendors and initiating new contracts
  • Work cross-functionally to carry out process improvements related to volunteer recruitment and experience
  • Clearly articulate to external audiences Trevor’s mission, the work that we do, and the opportunities for incredible people to volunteer with Team Trevor
  • Work closely with International Crisis Services, Volunteer Recruitment, and Volunteer Experience colleagues to capture learning from US-based volunteer operations and to share updates and learnings from international expansion work
