Position Summary | Postdoctoral Researcher The laboratory of Dr. Ruben Vidal is seeking outstanding applicants for a postdoctoral position to research the molecular mechanisms associated with neurodegenerative diseases. The projects will involve a range of biochemical, genetic and cell biology approaches that include (but are not limited to) mutagenesis, cloning, establishment of primary cell cultures, animal handling, stereotaxic surgery and characterization of mouse models. In addition, the laboratory has an interest in structural biology of amyloid proteins, having a strong publication record on determining protein structures by cryo-EM of protein aggregates isolated from human brain. The laboratory has a large collection of brains from individuals affected by neurodegenerative diseases. Basic Qualifications | Requirements Doctorate or terminal degree required. Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent from an accredited institution and possess excellent understanding of basic neurobiology of neurodegenerative diseases and mechanisms of neurodegeneration. Specific responsibilities include keen knowledge of experimental design, underlying scientific principles, the ability to analyze and assess results and preparation of data for papers and grants. The candidates are also expected to contribute to training of students as needed. |
