The Department of Physics and Center for Exploration of Novel Complex Materials (ENCOMM), within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks an Administrative Assistant to join our team. This position provides fiscal and administrative support for ENCOMM and the Department of Physics; provides administrative support to ENCOMM Center Director; communicates and organizes the OSU Materials Research Seed Grant Program (MRSGP) including managing the requests for proposals, letters of intent, proposals, internal and external review of proposals, publicity, communications, budgets, memorandums of understanding, and the seminar program; serves as the liaison and fiscal support for business, teaching, and research functions for a group of physics faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, research associates, graduate and undergraduate students, and visitors whose excellence is recognized internationally; monitors current operating and research spending budgets to ensure that individual projects and budgets are within spending limits and within compliance; arranges and processes purchasing and travel; processes a variety of complex financial tasks; resolves fiscal issues for the assigned group; consults with grants specialist on issues regarding grant management; coordinates arrangements for departmental seminars, special events, and group meetings; assists in the design, preparation and distribution of related program materials, brochures, newsletters, and correspondence; updates websites; assists in the coordination and scheduling of programs; serves in a back-up capacity to perform other reasonable duties as assigned; this position serves as part of a team to support college and department business operations. Qualifications: High School diploma or GED with 2 years of administrative experience is required with an Associate’s Degree desired. Prior experience in office/business management, Workday, MicroSoft Office and knowledge of University policies and procedures desired.

The target hiring range is $20.53-$27.36 per hour.

All exemptions are subject to Ohio State’s approval and subject to change, including revocation, due to legal and regulatory requirements.
