General Description / Primary Purpose
The candidate will be involved in research projects related to microbiology including drug resistance, probiotics, & renewable resources. A background in nanotechnology, molecular biology or bioinformatics is a plus.

Essential Duties


Job Function
The candidate will be involved in research projects related to microbiology including drug resistance, probiotics, & renewable resources. The essential functions will also include but are not limited to:
  • Performing experiments with bacterial cell culture, synthesis, and optimization of different types of nanoformulation for drug delivery. Follow lab safety trainings and equipment maintenance.
  • Cultivation of bacterial biofilms on 3D scaffolds to evaluate nanodrug effectiveness.
  • Performing experiments, assisting students with laboratory protocols and microbiology lab teaching.

NOTE: The initial appointment for this time-limited position is one year with the possibility of renewal based on funding and satisfactory progress

Required Qualifications
Faculty Position Required Qualifications
PhD or equivalent degree in microbiology or related disciplines including biomedical & material sciences in addition to medical or pharmaceutical drug delivery
Departmental Requirements
  • Research experience in the field of microbiology
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of independent research thoughts along with good writing and instructional skills
  • Strong background in most types of microscopes relevant to biology including material science and engineering is a plus
  • Can work independently in lab, teach a team, and help generate manuscripts, publishable in peer-reviewed journals in addition to grant proposal submissions and related administrative tasks.
  • Good Scientific writing and publishing skills.
  • The successful candidate must keep up to date with the advance detection methods and microscopy.
