Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to end school shootings and create a culture change that prevents violence and other harmful acts that hurt children. Through its life-saving, evidence-informed Know the Signs prevention programs, SHP educates and empowers youth and adults to recognize, intervene, and get help for individuals who may be socially isolated and/or at risk of hurting themselves or others. SHP is a moderate, bipartisan organization that supports sensible policy solutions that address the human side of gun violence and make schools safer.

SHP is led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

Position Summary

The Associate Director position will focus on developing trainings and materials for adults (including school faculty and staff, families, and community members) to support SHPs Start With Hello, Say Something, Say Something-ARS, SAVE Promise Club and Promise Leader programs. Further, they will adapt programming to ensure it meets the needs and interests of our various adult audiences as well as keep materials relevant and up to date.

The Associate Director position will also play an integral role in developing student programming for our Start With Hello, Say Something, Say Something-ARS, and SAVE Promise Club programs, including curriculum, student trainings, and general resources.

In addition, this manager position will support the coordination of important initiatives, including call-to-action weeks, working with student leaders to gather feedback about program effectiveness, and updating Sandy Hook Promises Learning Center.

This full-time position will report to the Associate Vice President, National Programs and will also work closely with the Know the Signs and Say Something-Anonymous Reporting System departments.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Support development of a vision for adult and student programming;
• Develop adult foundational trainings, supplemental trainings, and resources for educators, administrators, counselors, parents and Promise Leaders;
• Develop student foundational trainings, supplementals training, and resources for the Start With Hello, Say Something, Say Something-ARS, SAVE Promise Club and Promise Leader programs;
• Develop and conduct monthly Building the Basics professional learning series;
• Oversee the implementation of our Award Force platform that is used for national student and school awards;
• Assist with ensuring all programming, including, lesson plans, activities, student trainings, adult trainings align with our REDI criteria;
• Assist with the coordination of scripting and filming student and adult training videos;
• Assist with the coordination of call-to-action weeks, including Start With Hello and Say Something Weeks;
• Assist with updating content on Sandy Hook Promises Learning Center;
• Assist in collecting and analyzing program effectiveness data;
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent strategy and messaging.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional development experience in a K-12 setting or 5 year's experience teaching in an adult education setting;
• Experience successfully managing complex projects;
• Experience developing suicide prevention and violence prevention programming preferred;
• Highly personable, patient and friendly, with the ability to engage with new people and to work as part of a team
• Highly organized with great attention to detail, follow-up and follow-through
• High comfort level with technology, including Outlook email, and the full Microsoft Suite
• Performs other duties as required.

Benefits and Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000.

Our organization operates within a distributed workforce, allowing for location flexibility across the country for most positions. We provide remote office support for all staff, which includes a laptop, home office reimbursement, monthly WI-FI reimbursement up to $40, and monthly cell phone reimbursement up to $50.
