Position Overview:
The Aran Lab is searching for a Post Doctoral Scholar to join their team. The Aran lab is a biomedical device lab and pioneer in integrating CRISPR with modern electronics directed by Dr. Kiana Aran. Dr. Aran's research specifically focuses on developing novel biomedical solutions and products for research and clinical applications. Current research topics includes developing engineering solutions to understand and improve CRISPR-based gene editing, identify age and cancer-related biomarkers, utilizing functionalized material for biosensing applications and integration of biology with nanoelectronics to harness the function of biological molecules. The lab has extensive collaboration at national and international level with both academia and industry, creating opportunities for students and postdocs to better explore their future careers. The Aran Lab seeks to recruit exceptional researchers who have a track record of publications and interests in both academic and industrial careers. This critical position requires a strong, highly motivated, and fully independent scientist who will use a hands-on approach on the bench to develop and lead research efforts to meet the objectives of the projects. In alignment with the laboratory's leadership, this individual will lead the specific development project efforts and, consequently, will have significant intellectual input in the direction of the current and future projects.

Education and Experience:
A PhD in a relevant scientific discipline is required. Experience leading projects and a successful track record of designing and executing project design, implementation, and results. Broad technical expertise and a desire to work in a laboratory focused role. Experienced at managing/directing the research efforts of others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Record of publications and/or patents. Exceptional observational, analytical, and management abilities, needs to be driven, committed, self-initiating, with perseverance and a sense of urgency. CRISPR experience is preferred.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Lead a multi-disciplinary project team.
Drive the execution and development of the research strategies to be used on all relevant projects, directing the research of all staff assigned to the projects, and monitoring and communication the progress of all relevant projects.
Drive day-to-day project activity to achieve results including solving technical and other project challenges, managing resource conflicts, breaking down barriers to meet deadlines, achieve company goals and objectives, and ensure completion of projects to scope, schedule, and budget.
Responsible for ensuring project risks, both technical and management risks, are identified, appropriately addressed, and develop risk mitigation plans.
Regularly assess and report the status of the projects directly to the PI
Serve as a key "expert" team member on other teams.
Prepare project reports as needed, work on potentially valuable publications and regularly prepare and execute on oral presentations.
Submit results and analysis to scientific publications, as appropriate and allowable via Company policy.
Present results at conferences.
Supervise and mentor technical staff.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to drive locally and travel by airplane nationally. Occasionally, will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time at activities/events on and off-campus.
