Job Description


We invite applications for postdoctoral associate in theoretical Quantum Information Science in the Physics Department of Virginia Tech.

The focus of this position will be on quantum many-body dynamics, phases of matter in non-equilibrium and on noisy quantum devices. There will be an opportunity to test theoretical results on cloud quantum processors (Virginia Tech is in IBM’s Quantum Hub, which provides access to 20+ qubit devices).

The successful candidate will mainly work with Prof. Tianci Zhou, and is encouraged to interact and collaborate with other faculty, postdocs and students of the quantum information and condensed matter theory groups at Virginia Tech. The Postdoctoral Associate will have opportunities for travel to present in conferences and to collaborate with other groups. The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research in the above areas and disseminate results in journal publications and conference presentations.


Required Qualifications


- Ph.D. in Quantum Information Science, Theoretical Condensed Matter, or a closely related field. Ph.D. must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one-year eligibility remaining.
- Evidence of a publication record.

Preferred Qualifications


- Knowledge of concepts and techniques from Quantum Information Science and Theoretical Condensed Matter.
- Experience of programming and numerical simulation.
