Summary of Position

Be part of a dynamic academic advising team. Under the general supervision of the Director of Undergraduate Programs, advise undergraduate business students regarding academic and career planning, and to serve as a resource person on specific academic programs and policies.

Duty/Responsibility

Academic Advising:
Provide academic advising and support to assigned Paul College Students. This is a 4-year advising model where students are assigned an advisor at entry through successful graduation.
All student support:
  • Support students as they explore opportunities as part of their academic career. Guide students to option/major declaration in their sophomore year.
  • Explain academic policies, procedures, and curriculum to students to meet their educational goals
  • Guide student course selection and scheduling
  • Assess student needs and make referrals to university supports and resources
  • Maintain appropriate student records and document student interactions while ensuring confidentiality of student records
  • Identify and monitor student academic progress each semester to ensure successful completion of university and college academic requirements.
At-Risk Student Support
  • Contact students with early alerts indicating academic challenges
  • Help students identify and resolve obstacles to academic success
  • Serve as academic coach for students who have fallen below minimum academic expectations.
  • Meet with students placed on Academic Warning regarding their status and impact on educational plans.

Duty/Responsibility

Training and Program Support:
Participate in ongoing advisor training, both guided internal workshops and meetings as well as independently webinars, readings and external workshops.

Support to program coordinators with goal of taking on leadership role in one of the following Paul College Undergraduate Programs Office programs:
  • Rutman Fellows Program
  • External Transfer Student Program
  • Internal Transfer Support Program
  • AAA/Early Alert Program
  • Orientation Program
  • FIRE Program
  • Paul Pathways Program
  • Paul College Honors Program

Duty/Responsibility

Participate in Paul College recruitment and orientation events.
